Evening's Come But It's Not Dark

Hello. I am very pleased to announce the album I have been writing, "Evening's Come But It's Not Dark," is in the last steps of the production process. Though a firm release date has not been set yet (waiting on a few boring factors), people should expect a release in late January or early February.

The album will consist, in order, of the tracks:
1. Start Anew
2. 16 Caroline
3. Coal Man's Daughter
4. Another Day
5. Winter's Kiss

Writing this album has been a long time in the making, but every moment of the process has been an insane learning experience. Working with Jesse Bolduc of Candy Ambulance, as well as having so many rad guest musicians on the record has also been great. On 16 Caroline and Another Day, Rick Bolton laid some pretty tasty guitar work down, in a way that I had never envisioned for the songs.

Jon Cantiello (also of Candy Ambulance), was gracious enough to lend his beats to the record, and I truly feel they helped glue the idea for each song together. Finally, the bass lines that MG recorded for the album were the final piece to the puzzle.

I cannot wait to share the album in its entirety with all of you. You will be able to buy it in several places, such as iTunes, BandCamp, and Amazon. Or, if you prefer, you can buy it directly from lucasgarrettmusician.com/store, once the album has been released.

So, you just have to wait a little bit longer, but I promise you, it is worth the wait.

Fall Update '16

Hello! It's been a while since anything new has been posted to the site, but I certainly haven't stopped being busy! In the past few months, I've been working on recording my debut album, recording with Jesse Bolduc of Candy Ambulance. I couldn't be happier with the results so far! Things are really coming along with the recording process. Just last week, I was honored to have Rick Bolton join the efforts for the record. He contributed two guitar solos, and he without a doubt nailed both of them!

Apart from the album efforts, I've also launched what has turned out to be a popular local video segment on Facebook entitled, "Saratoga Sessions." The videos feature local artists in and around the Saratoga Springs area. It was designed to promote original music of both the guest and host, and I can say it's having much more of a local impact than I ever imagined. Stephanie Revely of Upst8musicfanzone has graciously offered to help with the aspects of recording and editing this series, and I am thrilled to have her on my side with this endeavor. There's been a lot of great guests on this video series, and we have a lot more to show you! To see past episodes, visit the link:

That's it for now!

STEM Stock '16

Over the course of the last few months, I've had the privilege of playing some pretty great theater shows, and a lot of other interesting gigs. It's been a blast collaborating here and there with other musicians, as well as performing solo.

It's with great pleasure that I was asked to take part in STEM Stock, a festival that used to take place in White Hall. The festival date is on July 16th, and it runs from 11am-11pm. There's going to be a lot of great acts taking the stage that day, and I look forward to sharing the performance with them.

I wanted to thank all of the people coming out to these shows. It's been nothing short of awesome.

Album update

Recently, I've mentioned that our band, as one of its last "acts," would be recording a debut release set for release before the close of this year. Admittedly, this decision to announce our album was an error. We regrettably announce that no studio album will be coming out before 2016 and that all future plans for one are set on the shelf for an indeterminate amount of time. I, along with the rest of the band, wish to apologize. We have come to the conclusion it is the best course of action for us in the foreseeable future and we thank you for continuing to be there and show support. Thank you.

A Close of Summer and other News

As Summer '15 comes to a close, I personally want to take a minute to talk with all who have supported us. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to personally thank all of our lovely fans that continue to come out and rock with us! You're awesome, and you're the reason we do what we do! Also, we would like to thank Stephanie Revely of Upst8musicfanzone. She is a great fixture on the local music scene and her dedication to it is constantly astonishing to me. In the past few months we have been working hard writing tunes and time and time again, not only are these efforts encouraged, but they are greatly welcomed! In the coming months, we will be taking to the studio to record our debut release!

With all great things that happen, so too will they end. After our album is finished, released, and our Fall performance dates are fulfilled, the lineup of the current Luke Garrett Band will be going on an indeterminate hiatus.

In just a year, we have gone through so much together and I consider them to be part of the family. There are no hard feelings between any member, and I owe them so much for all they have contributed.

You will still be able to see Chris performing in his other band, Restless Widow, and I have no doubt Billy will be providing the backbeat for another band in no time at all.

Who knows? We may be back together at the start of the new year, but all of us aren't putting a time frame on anything.

The advent of 2015 has been exciting to say the least! With the addition of Chris Knite (bass) and Billy Cole III (drums/percussion) things are really getting interesting. Tunes are being written, gigs are being booked and the band's sound is really starting to gel! We hope to see you guys out and about!

New Beginnings

Well, I've never really run a blog, let alone a website, so this will be an experience for all involved!  Take a look around the site, and I'll see you out and about at a show!  Peace
